News Release | March 22, 2016
Highway 8 road closure in Chisago County scheduled for March 22, 2016.
This will effect traffic in and out of Wisconsin on Hwy 8 via detours on and Highways 243, Wisconsin 35 south, and Minnesota 95, which will divert traffic from area affected by road maintenance.
Motorists on Highway 8 in Chisago County will encounter a road closure, as maintenance crews stabilize the road and the adjacent slopes.
Both directions of Highway 8, between the south and north intersections of Highway 95, between Franconia/Shafer Townships and Taylors Falls, will be closed to through traffic. Recent rainfall has caused the slope to give way and make it necessary to stabilize it before traffic can use the road.
Local residents and Wildwood Campground visitors can access the area from the west end of the Highway 8 closure.
The Road is expected to re-open by Friday, April 1st to car traffic only. Once it opens, lane widths and speed limits will be reduced until permanent repairs can be completed later this spring, during the Highway 8 construction project.
Truck traffic will continue using the posted detours until further notice.
